The Golden Record
In 1977 a disc containing pictures, film and sounds portraying the life and culture of our planet was sent out into space along with the spacecrafts Voyager 1 & 2. The disc portrayed a positive world, and left out all the suffering that is also, unfortunately, part of our planet. This disc, the Golden Record, is drifting in space as you read this.

The New Disc
We want to create and send out a new disk, as proof for ourselves, and evidence to the future generations, that we know that the world is unfair, and that we’re willing to do something about it. We know there are both negative and positive qualities in this world, but we’e willing to fight to change the life of those living in poverty, of those who are growing up with war and conflicts, of all those who are less fortunate than the rest of us. Involve Yourself is about giving all of us one voice so that the rest of the world will listen.
The first step in this campaign is to gather support and material that represent the state of our world. When this is done, the real work will start, and this is where you come in, again. We need all the help we can get if we are going to succeed in launching a new Golden Record. How are we going to do this? What should the disc look like? What shall we call it? You can contribute in any way you like; the important part is that you do contribute. This is your chance to make a difference. This is your chance to be part of space history. Involve Yourself
Involve Yourself is an annual campaign supported by five Norwegian organisations: Norwegian Red Cross Youth; the Norwegian Refugee Council; PRESS – Save the Children Youth Norway; Changemaker; and Norwegian People’s Aid Youth. In previous years this campaign has focused mainly on involving young people in Norway. This year we are going global. Human rights concern the entire planet. So we have to get the entire planet involved.
